Summer: The Ultimate Reminder of Why Green Bay is the Best Place To Live!

As a lifelong Green Bay resident who lives, works, and raises my family here, I can honestly say summer is hands down when the city comes alive!

After the chilly months of winter in Wisconsin, there’s nothing quite like seeing it come back to life in the warm weather. The farmers markets start up again, the parks are full of families and kids playing, and, every weekend, there’s something fun happening! During the summer in Green Bay, you will never be bored!

If you’re thinking about moving to Green Bay, or just wondering what life here is really like, let me give you a little glimpse into why I, and so many others, absolutely love living here- especially during the summer months!

Every Wednesday evening, the Farmers Market on Broadway is the place to be. You’ve got fresh produce, live music, food trucks, handmade goods, and the energy is just happy! I love walking the kids around, grabbing something to eat, sampling a local craft beer, and seeing familiar faces from the community!

If you’re looking for some Friday night fun, Light the Night Market in Downtown Green Bay is a must. Under the night sky, the market is illuminated with amazing street performances, arts and crafts, and the BEST food trucks!

Lastly, the Saturday Downtown Farmers Market is one of Wisconsin’s biggest and best. This market showcases over 100 vendors, including local cafes serving hot and cold drinks, and florists selling fresh flower bouquets larger than you! The Saturday Market has a vibe that makes you want to soak up every sunny moment. This is the kind of morning that’ll make any resident fall in love with Green Bay all over again.

Every weekend from June through August, there are plenty of free and family friendly events to attend . Here are a few of my favorites:

• Levitt AMP Concert Series at Leicht Park – Free outdoor concerts with food trucks and a great view of the Fox River!

• ArtFest | July 19-20 | An art and music festival in downtown Green Bay.

• Fire Over The Fox – Watch the spectacular fireworks at one of the best 4th of July celebrations in the area.

• Walleye Weekend in Fond du Lac

• If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s nothing like a quick day trip to beautiful Door County!

It is easy to enjoy the outdoors in the Green Bay area without needing to drive very far. Here are some of my favorite places to soak up the beauty of nature while the kids can run and play:

• Pamperin Park has big open spaces, great playgrounds, and shaded picnic areas.

• The Green Bay Botanical Garden is stunning in summer-and they host outdoor concerts and events, too.

• Bay Beach Amusement Park is a classic. It’s affordable, family-run, and full of old-school charm. You can’t beat $0.25 rides and views of the bay.

• Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary offers walking trails, animal encounters, and a peaceful escape right in the city.

Small-Town Vibe with Big Heart Energy

In the summer, Green Bay feels like a small town, but there’s always something going on! The people here know each other, and they show up for one another. Additionally, the city is located between the Fox River and the Bay, so there are plenty of fun activities that happen right on the water. Residents can ride down the river in a boat, go paddle boarding, go fishing, or just relax by the bay on a sunny day. It’s the kind of place that makes summer feel easy and full of good memories.
